Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup imitation crab or real crab meat, chopped
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 8–10 egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil for frying (about 2 cups)
Optional
- Sweet chili sauce for dipping
- Diced jalapeños or sriracha (for spicy variation)
- Shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (for cheesy twist)
- Fresh herbs like cilantro, chives, or parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese with chopped crab meat, finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly until the filling is creamy and ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls: Place one egg roll wrapper on a clean, dry surface. Spoon a generous amount of the crab filling near one corner of the wrapper. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll tightly away from you, sealing the edge with a dab of water to prevent it from opening during cooking.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to approximately 350°F (175°C). This temperature ensures the egg rolls cook evenly and become golden and crisp without absorbing too much oil.
- Fry Until Golden: Carefully place the assembled egg rolls in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook each batch for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the egg rolls and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve and Enjoy: Allow the Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls to cool slightly before serving. Pair them with your favorite dipping sauces such as sweet chili, soy sauce, or tangy mustard for a perfect appetizer experience.
Notes
- Do not overfill the egg roll wrappers to prevent bursting while frying.
- Seal the edges well using water or beaten egg to keep the rolls intact.
- Maintain the oil temperature around 350°F for even cooking and less greasy results.
- For convenience, assemble egg rolls and freeze them before frying to enjoy fresh-made crispiness later.
- Use fresh crab and vegetables for the most vibrant, authentic flavor.
