Instructions
- Prepare the chicken and pierogies: Cook the chicken if raw; shred or dice into bite-sized pieces. Boil or pan-fry pierogies until tender and slightly browned to enhance flavor and texture.
- Mix the creamy base: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended to form the rich sauce.
- Combine all ingredients: Add the cooked chicken, pierogies, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and chopped green onions to the creamy mixture. Gently fold to evenly distribute ingredients without breaking pierogies.
- Bake until bubbly: Transfer mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle additional cheddar cheese on top. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is bubbling and lightly browned on top.
- Let it rest and serve: Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes to set, making it easier to scoop out portions that hold together beautifully.
