Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Place Oreo cookies in a food processor or sealed bag; crush them until you have fine crumbs with a little texture remaining. This forms the base for your truffle dough.
- Mix the Oreo crumbs with cream cheese: In a bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until a thick, dough-like consistency is achieved that holds together when pressed.
- Shape the mixture into eggs: Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, form the mixture into small egg shapes about the size of a large walnut for bite-sized truffles.
- Chill the shaped truffles: Place the shaped eggs on a lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up for easier dipping.
- Melt the white chocolate: Gently melt white chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, stirring frequently. Add food coloring if desired to tint the coating.
- Dip the chilled truffles in chocolate: Using a fork or dipping tool, coat each truffle completely with melted white chocolate. Tap off excess chocolate and place them back on the lined sheet.
- Decorate and set: Immediately sprinkle festive decorations on top before the chocolate hardens. Chill again until firm, about 15 minutes, before serving.
