Fish and Seasonings
- 4 cod fillets, fresh or thawed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or crushed
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as parsley, thyme, or dill)
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare the Baking Dish: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Season the Cod Fillets: Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels. Drizzle them evenly with olive oil and lemon juice. Sprinkle minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried herbs, and paprika evenly over each fillet ensuring full coating.
- Arrange Cod in Baking Dish: Place the seasoned fillets in a single layer in the prepared baking dish, leaving space between each for even cooking.
- Bake Until Flaky: Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until the fish turns opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Be careful not to overcook to keep the fish moist and tender.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven and let rest for a minute. Optionally, squeeze extra fresh lemon juice on top before serving for added zest.
Notes

- Check the fish a minute or two before the end of bake time to avoid overcooking.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best brightness in flavor.
- Line baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup and prevent sticking.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
