Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
- 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen, thawed)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 medium onion, diced
Sauces and Oils
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (regular or gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional but recommended)
Seasonings and Extras
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare Your Ingredients: Wash and cut broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince garlic, grate ginger, and dice the onion so all ingredients are ready before cooking.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then remove beef from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics and Broccoli: In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Add diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook until fragrant and onions turn translucent. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3 to 5 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Combine and Season: Return cooked ground beef to the pan with the broccoli mixture. Pour in soy sauce and drizzle sesame oil over everything. Add red pepper flakes if desired. Stir to coat all ingredients evenly and cook for another 2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from heat. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
Notes
- Use high heat to keep vegetables crisp and lock in flavor.
- Drain excess fat after browning beef to prevent greasiness.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure proper searing instead of steaming.
- Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best aromatic flavor.
- Adjust soy sauce quantity to taste to avoid oversalting.
- Frozen broccoli works well; thaw and drain before using to prevent sogginess.
- This recipe is perfect for meal prepping and stores well refrigerated or frozen.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with tofu crumbles or tempeh and use vegetable-based soy sauce.
