Jalapeño Popper Twists

Jalapeño Popper Twists

Jalapeño Popper Twists are crispy, cheesy snacks that combine flaky puff pastry with a creamy, spicy filling of cream cheese, cheddar, and fresh jalapeños. Perfect for parties, game days, or cozy nights in, these twists offer a bold heat balanced with gooey cheese and a satisfying crunch. Easy to prepare and customizable to suit any spice level or dietary preference, they are an irresistible treat that will become a favorite snack.

  • Total Time: 30-40 minutes
  • Yield: 12-16 twists 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • Fresh Jalapeños (quantity to taste, seeds removed for less heat or kept for extra spice)
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 cup Bacon Bits (optional)
  • 1 Egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Finely chop the jalapeños and mix them with softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and optional bacon bits in a bowl until well combined and creamy.
  2. Roll Out the Puff Pastry: Lightly flour your work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheets. Roll them out slightly to smooth seams and prepare them for filling.
  3. Spread the Filling: Evenly spread the cheese and jalapeño mixture over the puff pastry sheet, leaving about a half inch border around the edges.
  4. Cut and Twist: Cut the pastry into strips approximately one inch wide. Carefully twist each strip several times to form the characteristic “twist” shape.
  5. Apply Egg Wash and Bake: Brush each twist with a beaten egg to achieve a golden, glossy finish and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.

Notes

  • Use fresh jalapeños for the best flavor and ideal heat level.
  • Don’t overfill the pastry to prevent leaks and ensure even baking.
  • Freeze puff pastry briefly before cutting and twisting to avoid tearing.
  • Watch baking time carefully to keep the twists golden and melty without drying out.
  • Serve warm for the best texture and flavor experience.
