Scale
Bread Bowls and Garlic Butter
- 4 small round loaves or sourdough rolls
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (for garlic butter)
Spaghetti and Sauce
- 8 ounces spaghetti noodles
- 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Cheeses and Garnish
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil or parsley, chopped
Optional Proteins and Vegetables
- Italian sausage or meatballs (for meat lover’s style)
- Roasted bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, or spinach (for vegetarian twist)
- Red pepper flakes or hot sauce (for spicy kick)
- Ricotta or provolone cheese (for cheese overload)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread Bowls: Slice the tops off your bread rounds and carefully hollow out the interiors to create space for the spaghetti. Brush the inside of each bread bowl generously with freshly made garlic butter to infuse irresistible aroma and flavor.
- Cook the Spaghetti: Boil the spaghetti noodles in salted water following package instructions until al dente. Drain thoroughly to avoid sogginess, then toss the spaghetti with warm marinara sauce to evenly coat each strand.
- Assemble the Bowls: Fill each garlic bread bowl generously with the sauced spaghetti. Top the pasta with a good handful of shredded mozzarella cheese and sprinkle Parmesan cheese over for rich, nutty notes.
- Bake Until Melty: Place the filled bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread edges turn golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped basil or parsley on top for a burst of color and herbal freshness. Serve immediately to enjoy the bread’s crisp texture alongside the gooey pasta.
Notes
- Use sturdy bread like thick-crusted rolls or sourdough to prevent sogginess and hold the spaghetti well.
- Drain pasta thoroughly to avoid excess moisture that could make the bread soggy.
- Make garlic butter fresh with minced garlic and melted butter for best flavor.
- Don’t overfill the bread bowls to prevent spilling and ensure even baking.
- For extra crispiness, broil the stuffed bread bowls briefly after baking to crisp the cheese topping.
